Tank Setup Tips
-
Lighting: Dim lighting helps showcase their iridescent colors and reduces stress.
-
Substrate: Dark substrate enhances their vibrant coloration.
-
Decor: Heavily planted tank with driftwood, leaf litter, and shaded areas to mimic their natural habitat.
-
Filtration: Gentle flow preferred; avoid strong currents.
Breeding
-
Difficulty: Moderate to Hard (requires soft, acidic water and controlled light cycles)
-
Spawning: Egg scatterers; do not provide parental care.
-
Setup: Separate breeding tank with spawning mops or fine-leaf plants; dim lighting.
-
Hatching: Eggs hatch in ~24–36 hours; fry should be fed infusoria or liquid fry food.
Special Considerations
-
Sensitive to water parameter fluctuations—perform regular water changes with consistency.
-
More delicate than their cousin the Neon Tetra; best kept by intermediate or experienced aquarists.
